We live in a 150 year old end terrace cottage, on a moor, at the side of a field. The house is very exposed to the elements. Our existing Brazilian mahogany windows were failing after 40 years. We had 4 window specialists visit the property. York windows stood out above the rest. My first contact was with Mark Gambols, the owner. He took time explaining the process from start to finish covering the quality, look, timescale and surveying the windows. I'm a bit of a perfectionist he listened carefully to our requirements. Nothing was a problem, there was no pressurized selling and he suggested before I made my mind up to call in to his factory where they manufactured the windows. helping me with my decision. On visiting the works , I had a little tour of the factory. Its organised, fully equipped with a team of engineers. Mark also showed me a digital layout of our windows and advised me on a few adjustments regarding the symmetry and format of the windows so they didn't look like a mis-measurement. I was impressed with the set up and how conscientious he was. We agreed on new double glazed units all around, including a bay window with replacement canopy, French window (toughened glass) and 2 windows with security film. Darrell and Taylor, the window fitters did a fine job. They're very hard working. Considering the age of the property not all the walls are completely straight and they kept me involved and informed of any tweaks etc they had to make. Marks initial measurements were spot on and with the fitters expertise, the windows fitted like a glove. We then in our case had a 1 inch beading on the inside and out giving the windows a more robust and smoother finish. In addition the fitters kindly repositioned the guttering around the porch. I made a last minute alteration to keep the existing canopy above the Bay window. We're blown away with the quality and appearance of our new windows, they look great. The Cottage is warmer, quieter. The windows were fitted late September 2023 and have been put to the test. 11 named storms and 2 cold snaps. there are no gaps, draughts leaks or movement and any signs of mould. You can literally drop a feather behind them on those wild stormy days. In a position of trust I found them to be 100% trustworthy. All e-mails, phone calls were answered in a reasonable amount of time, the job was completed in the timeframe, the fitters arrived bang on the dot and I was happy to leave them alone in the house when I had to nip out. There were no issues with the payment. Mark Gambols is an honourable man. When I settled the final payment he had deducted the cost of the fibreglass canopy bearing in mind I insisted replacing it in the first place. Overall it was a stress free enjoyable experience. Everyone I met in the company Mark, Jane , Andy , Stacey, Natalie, Darrell and Taylor were all polite and genuine sound people. They're Solid. A very professional outfit with competitive rates.

STAY WELL AWAY. Delivered our window with a crack in it, no keys and with scratches on the handles. Would not refund any money and when I spoke to them on the phone they said they would ‘rip me apart.’ EDIT - it won’t let me reply to you so I’ll reply here. My 1 star review was when I rung up to complain you threatened me with violence ‘I’ll rip you out?’ and I had to call the police. Or do you not remember that?

We live in Whitley, near Wigan hospital. We had our windows fitted four years ago by York Windows. We got great service then and four years on Mark and his team are still looking after us when we call with niggles! Highly recommend.

Had all my windows and doors from this company and can’t fault them at all. The price was better than anyone else in the Wigan area very happy with the quality, came when they said they would. The fitting team are very neat and tidy. Thanks very much. Andy D

Many thanks to York Windows for the making and fitting of 14 windows and 2 doors completed to a very high standard and at a competitive price. Everyone at York Windows are friendly, very helpful and gave good advice regarding our order. Special thanks to Taylor and Daryl who removed the old frames and fitted the new without damage to the plaster around the frames. We fully expected to have to redecorate round the frames. The windows and doors are fitted to an amazing standard and we are especially pleased with the finish around the bay windows. Taylor and Daryl are excellent fitters and they work non stop. They removed all our wooden frames and glass and left everywhere clean and tidy. We have no hesitation in recommending York Windows.
